Sometimes you just want a quick and easy vegan breakfast that’s not cereal or toast. Here’s a fairly new frozen product from the people who brought us veggie boob—Richmond-based Garden Protein International—that fits the bill.

We found the Gardein breakfast sandwich selling for $4.75 at Donald’s Market in Vancouver. A box comes with two small sandwiches and takes minutes to prepare in the microwave, on the stove, or in a conventional or toaster oven. Continue reading

If you have food allergies and abstain from animal products, you might want to check out Wise Bites.

Based in Richmond, the food company launched in October 2012 and showed off its products at Vancouver’s Gluten Free Expo on January 13. According to Wise Bites’ website, all of its baked and packaged goods are “safe for those with the eight most common allergies and sensitivities”. The products are vegan; free of gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, and soy; and made in a dedicated factory. Continue reading
