Two Vancouver Co-operative Radio shows are planning to hold a vegan bake sale on the day before Valentine’s Day.

The bake sale, organized by Animal Voices and Drishti Point, will take place on February 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Unity Yoga Teahouse (1672 East 10th Avenue).

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association. They’ll also be fundraising for the Vancouver premiere of Speciesism: The Movie. Continue reading

Vancouver Meatless Meetup’s Earth Day potluck to screen Vegucated

The last time I blogged about the Vancouver Meatless Meetup, it was preparing to host a big potluck during the holiday season. Now the group is planning a potluck to celebrate Earth Day.

Actually, the event will take place on April 21, the day before Earth Day. The location will be the same as last time—the Oakridge Adventist Church (5350 Baillie Street). Although the potluck is a secular event, the site is fitting because the Seventh-day Adventist Church encourages a vegetarian diet.

This potluck will feature a screening of the film Vegucated. Directed by Marisa Miller Wolfson, the much-talked-about documentary follows three omnivores who agree to follow a vegan diet for six weeks. Continue reading
