Vegan bake sale alert!

Vancouver’s only vegan footwear store plans to hold a holiday bake sale on December 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. Here’s what Nice Shoes (3568 Fraser Street) says about the event in its latest e-newsletter:

Nice Shoes is once again hosting a vegan bake sale to benefit Liberation BC!

The proceeds of the bake sale will go towards Liberation BC’s dairy campaign and help them in continuing to do vegan outreach. As an all volunteer based non-profit it is the support of the community that allows Liberation BC to continue to speak for the animals.

Interested in donating baked goods? Nice Shoes is asking prospective bakers to email the store. If you’re looking for a suitable recipe, there’s plenty in the cookbook Quick and Easy Vegan Bake Sale by Carla Kelly.

The bake sale will take place on December 8.

A Vancouver-based animal rights group, Liberation B.C. stages weekly vigils on Friday mornings at Commercial Drive and East Hastings Street, near a chicken slaughterhouse. Up the street from Nice Shoes, Graze (3980 Fraser Street) also hosted a fundraiser for Liberation B.C. on November 27.

On the same block, Fairy Cakes (3586 Fraser Street) plans to hold a used toy sale on December 14 and 15, benefiting Mission’s Hearts on Noses pig sanctuary.
