Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a package of vegan goodies arrived in your mailbox every month? Well, the online store Vegan Cuts has such a service.
Each Vegan Cuts snack box comes with seven to 10 items, which are mostly gluten-free and don’t contain palm oil. A subscription costs $19.95 US per month. Shipping is free in the United States, but there’s an extra charge of $8 US for Canadian orders and $15 US for deliveries to the rest of the world.
This month, Vegan Cuts sent me a sample box, and I was delighted to find it packed with 10 products that I’d never tried before. Here’s what was inside:
- Crunchmaster multi-grain sea salt crackers
- Mediterranean Snacks cracked pepper baked lentil chips
- Raw Snacks cranberry cashew snack bar
- Rescue Chocolate Peanut Butter Pit Bull
- Runa Clean Energy original drink
- Smooze coconut and pineapple fruit ice
- Stash Spice Dragon Red Chai herbal tea
- Surf Sweets peach rings
- YumEarth Naturals sour beans
- YumEarth Organics fruit snacks
All of the snacks and sweets in the box were full of flavour. The Mediterranean Snacks cracked pepper baked lentil chips and YumEarth Naturals sour beans were my favourite items, because they were even more peppery and tart than I expected. As well, the Surf Sweets peach rings and YumEarth Organics fruit snacks were really juicy, and the Rescue Chocolate Peanut Butter Pit Bull was like a Reese’s cup. The Raw Snacks cranberry cashew snack bar was the only raw product in the box.
The drinks were disappointing, however. Imagine someone left black tea overnight in a pot and added tonic water in the morning—that’s what the Runa Clean Energy original drink tasted like. The Stash Spice Dragon Red Chai herbal tea was fine, just nothing special.
Nevertheless, if you want to give someone (or yourself) a delectable gift, a snack box subscription certainly fits the bill. Vegan Cuts, founded by Ottawa couple Jill Pyle and John Wiseman, also offers a monthly beauty box that’s filled with cruelty-free cosmetics, and hair and skin care products.
