Once upon a time, OrganicLives operated two raw vegan eateries in Vancouver.

In 2009, the original restaurant opened at 1829 Quebec Street in Mount Pleasant. Two years later, OrganicLives expanded with a take-out café inside the Chopra Yoga Center at 451 Granville Street in the downtown core.

Unfortunately, a fire shut down the Quebec Street restaurant in July 2012. Now, OrganicLives, which is owned by Preet Marwaha, has closed its Granville Street café. On its website, OrganicLives posted last week the following announcement:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Take-Away Café in the Chopra Yoga Centre on Granville Street is closing on Saturday, August 31.

Thank you for all your loyal and enthusiastic support.

What’s next for OrganicLives? The company says to “stay tuned”. OrganicLives food products are still available online, at Galloway’s stores in Burnaby and Richmond, and from other local retailers.

If you’re downtown and in need of a smoothie or some raw food, your best bet is Gorilla Food (101-436 Richards Street), just two blocks away.
