Vegetarian Shoes X Trainer sets the ground for spring walking

New season, new shoes. I don’t get a kick out of shopping for footwear, but I had little trouble picking out this pair from England’s Vegetarian Shoes.

The X Trainer is made in Portugal with a vegan material called Vegetan Bucky. It’s a breathable microfibre that resembles leather but isn’t derived from animal skin. These men’s casual shoes feature padded collars, tongues, and insoles, so they’re very comfortable. Despite their name, they’re really for walking, not running.

I found them at Nice Shoes (3568 Fraser Street), Vancouver’s first vegan footwear store (now two years old). A pair will set you back $129. In addition to brown, the X Trainer is available in olive and white.
