As a registered dietitian and coauthor of such books as Becoming Vegan, Becoming Raw, and Raising Vegetarian Children, Vesanto Melina knows a ton about vegan diets and what many omnivores think of them. On December 2, the Langley resident is slated to give a timely talk at Eternal Abundance (1025 Commercial Drive), an organic, vegan café and grocery store in East Vancouver. Admission is $10.
The Facebook page for the event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., states:
With the holidays approaching it’s especially important to learn easy, tasty ways to fit health-supportive foods into busy lives. Come up with new, simple ideas for nutritious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks on vegan and raw food diets and celebration meals that everyone will enjoy. Consider how to navigate through the holiday season and celebrate with families and friends whose dietary patterns differ from your own.
Melina’s most recent cookbook, the second edition of Cooking Vegetarian, was published in October 2011 in Canada. Coauthored by Joseph Forest, the book was also released in April in the U.S. under the title Cooking Vegan.
