Steveston’s Rawk the Planet raw vegetarian café to open in November

Rawk the Planet has a tentative opening date. The raw-vegetarian café in Richmond is aiming to welcome its first customers on November 16.

(Update: Rawk the Planet ultimately opened in March 2013.)

Located at 240-12240 2nd Avenue in Steveston, the café will have a mostly vegan menu, which will be free of dairy, eggs, wheat, and soy. In a September interview, Rawk the Planet owner Nessa Campbell told me that she plans on serving wraps, burgers, pizza, spring rolls, and salads, as well as juices, smoothies, and wheatgrass shots. Some of the desserts will contain raw organic honey, which will also be offered as a sweetener for tea.

Campbell had hoped to open the café earlier this month and then on November 2. In an October 23 post on Facebook, Rawk the Planet says:

We have changed the opening DATE as we were at City Hall yesterday and we want to make sure we have enough time for all final inspections to be completed. Again this is a TENTATIVE date and if a change needs to be made I will post on here but pretty sure we will be open for business on November 16th.

Rawk the Planet will have a small menu to start, but its offerings will certainly grow.
